Barber Poles
Barber Poles date all the way back to the Middle Ages when barber-surgeons would perform a wide variety of services and minor medical procedures, including Bloodletting, which is where the traditional red and white pole originated. The blue stripe was later added in the USA to match the colours of the American Flag.
The Barber Pole has now become an iconic symbol, recognised worldwide as the mark of a Barber Shop.
